The team progressed beyond the first round of the championship, winning against conference rival University of Scranton but eventually being defeated in a tense game by local opponent Washington College. The ceremony, held on Goucher’s basketball court, honored the forty-five players who helped the team achieve their outstanding successes last season, with many of the graduating seniors returning to help honor those accomplishments.

Recognition for other achievements was given as well, including special shout-outs to the six players who made the All-Landmark Conference Team: Bryce Carson ’12, Paul Taylor ’13, Connor Mishaw ’12, Matt Lynch ’12, Kyle Boncaro ’12, and Rory Averett ’12. Averett and Lynch were also recognized for their academic, athletic, and civic achievements with the Scholar All-Americans award, and they and Boncaro were named Division III All-Americans.

Athletic Director Geoff Miller handed out the awards to each player, and the Goucher Gopher mascot stood nearby clapping along with all of the Goucher Lacrosse parents and fans as each player took their plague and ring, something they will no doubt treasure for many years to come.
