Usually, I have almonds with me around the clock during the week. They’re packed with vitamin E, calcium, protein, and healthy unsaturated fats. However, recently I’ve been trying something new: I’ve discovered the beautiful benefits of kale.
Kale is one of the healthiest vegetables around. It has been found to lower the risk of cancer and lower cholesterol. Understandably, college students are not concerned about their cholesterol levels. You guys want to be able to fit into last year’s jeans and work towards those summer beach bods. Kale can do the trick!
Some tend to be dissatisfied with the natural taste of kale, or any other vegetable for that matter. I have a quick and easy recipe that’s low in calories, and will not take away any of kale’s nutritional benefits. “Krunchy Kale,” as I’d like to call it, is great to have with you whether you’re on the go, studying, or hanging out with your friends. They can replace the greasy chips at Pearlstone or even croutons in a salad.
What you need: 1 bag of kale, butter flavored pam, kosher salt, cookie sheet
Directions: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Empty the bag of kale onto the cookie sheet and spray the vegetable with the butter flavored pam (how much you spray is your choice). Sprinkle the kosher salt onto the kale. Personally, I don’t sprinkle too much. You can pop the cookie sheet in the oven before it hits 350˚. Make sure to look at the kale every 3-5 minutes. Once the edges start to turn brown, they can be taken out of the oven. Be ready to savor the crispiness!
