Within the past month Goucher College has experienced a sudden rush of vandalism incidents. Many
students have seen the destruction, which has included five damaged ceiling tiles and graffiti in a bathroom. One of the doors leading to the Health Center was also cracked, a wall in Welsh was kicked in, and a Ping-Pong table was damaged. The total cost of the damage – including three damaged cars (two were “keyed” and one had its tires slashed) and a broken vending machine – is estimated to be $3,150. Continue reading →

On Monday, September 9, at 11:12 p.m., a student accidentally set off the sprinkler system in Welsh Hall, more commonly known as the T. The fire alarm went off, which immediately notified Public Safety. Community Living and Facilities Management Services (FMS) were notified by Public Safety soon after. Programming Board announced three weeks ago that Gala will be held on Sunday Dec. 2. This is the first time the event will be in the Fall semester.
The structural change splits the two largest events offered by Programming Board: Gala and GIG, to both spring and fall semesters. According to an email sent to students from the
Vice President of Programming Board last spring, the events that took place during last year’s Gala would affect various changes that must be made to make Gala possible again.
